Betterview Adds Building Permit Information to its Property Data and Analytics Platform

“Betterview’s Property Profile Combines Building Permit Information Along with New Data Sources Generated by AI to Provide Insights into the Inside and Outside of Buildings and Properties”

Betterview, which is quickly becoming the platform essential to every transaction around buildings and properties, today announced it has added building permit information to Property Profile.  This information is now available for commercial and residential buildings throughout the United States.

Betterview’s Property Profile combines traditional data sources like building permits, along with new data sources generated by AI, to provide insights into the inside and outside of commercial and residential buildings and properties.  P&C insurers can now assess roof condition, roof characteristics, and property hazards quickly and easily.

“We are extremely proud to announce our latest Property Profile update,” said Dave Tobias, Co-Founder & COO, Betterview.  “Over the last several months, we have added natural hazard data, historical weather, assessor’s information, historical imagery, and now permit data. One of the benefits of aggregating all of this data is that while you may be able to gain some insights from each source individually, when you combine them, they start to tell you a story about the inside and outside of a building, “ explained Tobias.

Property Profile’s risk scoring is based on proprietary data and algorithms that Betterview has developed through its extensive property inspection experience and customer feedback. Now within each Property Profile report, users will be able to scroll down and view the following permit information:

  • Permit history and timeline
  • Roof updates
  • Yearly fire inspections
  • Plumbing & electrical updates
  • And more

“Currently, P&C insurers are facing a disruptive force from venture funded insurance startups, who see an opportunity to improve the user experience,,” explained David Lyman, CEO & Co-Founder, Betterview.  “These companies are leveraging hundreds of data sources to streamline operations, enhance customer experience and improve decision making. Right now established P&C insurers are faced with two choices: embrace the current ripple of disruption like traditional banks did with online banking or avoid it all together until it becomes a tsunami.  With Betterview’s out-of-the-box building & property data and analytics, P&C insurers of all sizes can now play on a level playing field without the need for a big IT investment,” said Lyman.

Betterview’s roof scores, roof characteristics, and property information may be accessed via API or through Betterview’s platform by typing in an address or uploading an Excel spreadsheet or CSV file.

For a limited time, Betterview is offering a complimentary proof of concept program that includes ROI analysis and an implementation guide, which provides specific recommendations users may take based off of their results.
